A prophecy is a special message, believed to have come from the God, for the lesser beings. This message is conveyed to the human society through some deeply pious person called prophet, claimed to be possessed with supernatural powers. The concept and definition of prophecy varies slightly from religion to region, community to community. There have been various instances of prophecies delivered to mankind of several religions. Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Judaism are some of them.
The most widely known prophecy which has stirred many curious minds all over in the modern world is “the end time prophecy from the Bible” which says that Jesus Christ will rise again from his grave. In other words, Jesus Christ is said to be resurrected sometime in the future. This prophecy was written in Matthew 24:29-31 during the 1st century A.D. even though this prophecy is yet to be fulfilled, it was said there that Jesus Christ will come back to judge the dead and the living.
In Matthew 24:36-37, it is prophesized that no mortal will know beforehand about the exact time or the day of Christ’s return. Now, this prophecy is fulfilled many a times in the past, so much so that people even today are of varied opinion about the topic.
In the same line about the end time prophecies involving Jesus Christ’s return to the world, it is mentioned in 2 Peter 3:1-18 in the Bible that the return will be totally unexpected to the world. Needless to say, even this prophecy is yet to be fulfilled, and is dependent on the fulfillment of the second prophecy, as mentioned in this articles.
