Facts On Monster

When it comes to vampires, werewolves and other such creatures, Philippines is not new for it. But, the creatures or the monsters that you would read about here are more feared for. Many would say that they are folklores but sadly, they are not just folklores! There are many Filipinos who have experienced battling against these monsters, particularly in the far-flung towns in the Philippines which do not have electricity.

The aswangs are believed to be the most feared supernatural creatures found in the Philippines. They have the power to enter anyone’s body and through that they can harm the body of the ones they do not like. The female form of the monster is very common with an old, ugly woman having long, unkempt hair, eyes as red as blood with long nails and a tongue that is long and black. She has some holes under her armpits, which has oil, which provides her with the power of light.

Aswang has enormous power, which can transform itself like any shape, which includes inanimate things. It usually preys on children, women who are pregnant and the people who are ill. After an aswang overpowers its victim, it makes a replica of him by using a bundle of sticks, talahib grass, banana stalks or rice. The replica of the person is then sent to his home. The Aswang takes away the real person for killing and eating. The replica, once it reaches home would become sick and eventually die.

According to most of the stories, an Aswang lives like a regular person during the day and prefers working as a butcher or for making sausages.
