Garden Tools That Last

In order to maintain a beautiful garden, you also need to have efficient tools to work with. Hence, ensure that you maintain your gardening tools with proper care. It is advisable to purchase a ready-made tool shed from the commercial home improvement stores for storing your garden tools.

The first step in maintaining your tools is to clean them immediately after use. You need to wash off the dirt, remove the debris and dry your tool thoroughly before storing it for future use. In addition, you need to maintain your tools by using commercial cleaning solutions and lubricants at least twice or three times a year.

Buy a sturdy garden hose even if you have to invest a little more than what you have budgeted. This is one of the most commonly used tools and unfortunately, the most ignored one too. Wind up the hose on a hose reel after draining the water to prevent cracks and leaks.

Cutting and shearing tools should be thoroughly cleaned and lubricated before storing them. This would prevent rusting and also ensure that the tool remains sharp for longer time. Store the tools away from direct sunlight.

Shovels, rakes and hose are bulkier than many of the other garden tools and hence, it may not be convenient to store them inside the house. Spray water on the tools with high pressure hose in order to remove the debris and dirt and then store them an upright position after thoroughly drying them. If you purchase tools made with stainless steel or carbon coating, you can prevent rusting of the tool. Lubricating the tools will also prevent corrosion.
