How To Charge A Lawn Mower Battery ?

There are certain guidelines which when adhered to properly can keep your land mower work and last for a long time. You need to maintain your lawn mower on a regular basis. One of the most important things that needs maintenance is the batteries, which usually tend to discharge when the mower is not used for long, as what happens in winters.

One tends to forget to charge the batteries, and when the time for mowing comes, they find that the batteries have discharged completely. Well, you can always replace the batteries but that is not cost effective. Why not do something which can keep the batteries charged always?

To recharge the batteries, first of all locate the position of the batteries. Many users do not even know that. Most of the riding varieties of mowers have their batteries located under the seat or the hood. In case you do not find them there, check with the owner’s manual. Once you have successfully located the batteries, disconnect the positive and the negative leads from the batteries. The cables can be removed with the help of pliers.

Now, plug in the battery charger to your normal electric supply. You can use an extension cord if the electrical supply is not within the reach. The red lead of the battery charger should be attached to the positive terminal of the lawnmower's battery, and the black lead similarly should be attached to the negative terminal.

Ascertain the voltage of the battery by reading the information written on the label of the battery. Set the charger accordingly to the same voltage as mentioned in the label. Chargers are mentioned with fast charge or trickle charge setting. You can choose the trickle charge setting. The time of the charging is also mentioned in the charger. For a trickle charging, the amount of time taken is usually between four and eight hours.
