Treatment For Anthrax

Anthrax can be prevented through vaccinations and also there is treatment available for it. However, when a person is infected by the anthrax bacteria, they should immediately go to the doctor to get treated with antibiotics. If they ignore the fever and the stomach cramping, the symptoms may disappear in a while. However, they do return after some months and at that time they could become fatal for the person.

Delayed anthrax is a very difficult disease to treat and mostly it can become fatal. When the infection in the body becomes severe it is too late to be treated. Several antibiotics are used to destroy the anthrax bacteria like ciprofloxacin, doxycycline and penicillin. The antibiotics are given to the person for 60 days. A person should take the complete course of antibiotics. Or else, the bacteria come back with even more power and the antibiotics become weaker. Also, doctors recommend two varieties of antibiotics in the case of anthrax.

Anthrax can be contracted by inhaling the bacteria also. The best way to avoid it is to stay away from livestock. Also, check before you purchase meat and see from where it is being processed. If you are buying it from the butcher you have to be all the more careful. If a pregnant woman gets anthrax, it affects the fetus also. Antibiotics should be immediately administered, so that the fetus does not get infected further. Anthrax is also treated through inhalation and antibiotics are given to inhale. Timely treatment for anthrax can be very effective.
