Temper tantrum can be termed as the display of unexpected outburst of anger. It is often found, children react to a situation unknowingly regardless to the consequences of the action. They do not do this to grab attention but it is an uncontrollable act, which they may or may not understand. Children are often seen screaming, crying, losing control on arms and legs by swinging in air or land as a sign of temper tantrum. This action during temper tantrum may last for minimum thirty seconds and may last up to two minutes.
It is often seen the temper tantrums are strong in the start and low down as few minutes are exceeded. It totally depends on the vigor of the child and sometimes the effects of temper tantrum may become rigorous and lengthy. It is really difficult for parents to tackle the children who are affected by severe temper tantrum. For instance, the child may start shouting loudly, start hitting anyone who comes in front, may bite, twitch and pinch. The problem may continue if proper consultation is not given to child and these aggressive activities by child may harm the child itself or others who are in vicinity. Temper tantrum may become a serious problem if proper care is not taken of the child.
Some children develop the symptoms of temper tantrums in the age group between one to four years. But studies have proved that age is not a factor to develop temper tantrum though it can occur at any age, even in adulthood. Temper tantrums start normally at an age of around one year and go on increasing as the child grows. It may get reduced when child starts understanding aspects of life or parents; it totally depends on the environment the child grows up. The growing temper tantrum in a child may make the child frustrated and bad tempered.
