Problems After Cesarean

A cesarean surgery is done on a pregnant woman to deliver the baby. If there are any complications in delivering the baby for the woman, then a C section is opted for instead. A C section surgery is usually considered very safe by the doctors and it is safer than the normal birth also in some cases. Nevertheless, one should keep in mind that it is a surgery, and it does have its risk factors.

One of the biggest risk factors is bleeding. Even though it is very uncommon that a person will lose excess blood during a cesarean operation it is still a possibility. After the cesarean operation, the healing of the surgical wound is a big concern. The wound may heal quickly in some and some women take a longer time. The care for the baby is also vital after the mother has had a Cesarean operation. If she is still suffering from pain, then she will be painkillers which means she cannot breast feed the baby.

When a mother delays the breast feeding soon after birth, then chances are she may never lactate after that. After a Cesarean birth, it takes time to gain consciousness and lactation can suffer from a set back due to the anesthesia. However doctors under normal circumstances do give medications to promote the lactation.

Otherwise, there are no severe problems associated with the cesarean surgery, and it is considered 98 percent safe by the doctors today. It is safe for both the baby and the mother.
