In a cesarean surgery, the doctors make an incision near the naval and also cut the uterus to remove the baby from the womb. The incision can be anything from 4 inches to six inches long. Sometimes it can be even more and it depends on the size of the baby.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. After that the surgical wounds are stitched up the healing process is very important. Scar tissue is a big concern for women who deliver the baby through a cesarean birth.
