The second trimester for a woman is much better than the first trimester because several of the symptoms that started in early pregnancy start vanishing. Many of these like morning sickness, nausea, vomiting and head aches all start disappearing now. The appetite also improves gradually.
In terms of weight gain, the baby and the mother do gain some weight in this trimester. Some women who have a very healthy appetite can gain anything from 12 to 14 pounds during the 2nd trimester. Some women who are still recovering from their morning sickness and other things can gain nearly 10 to 14 pounds in the 2nd trimester. However, the weight gain pattern mainly depends on the diet you take. Every single thing you eat goes for the benefit of the baby and your body. So eating a lot of vegetables and fruits can help you gain positive weight which you can easily lose after pregnancy.
Weight gain is a positive thing in pregnancy and every time you visit the doctor the scale should show a higher number. Only then do doctors feel encouraged about your condition. Even the prenatal vitamins that you are taking help you to gain weight. These also play a role in increasing your appetite. As you start eating more your weight gain process also will become more active. You will also notice some physical changes like enlargement of breasts and the stomach at the same time. You start feeling heavier than before and also you can start feeling the baby’s head clearly in the womb.
