Third Trimester Complications

The third trimester is a very happier period in pregnancy for most women. They have an increased appetite and they also can feel their baby. They also notice that the baby is responding to their actions and there is so much to look forward to. Women start decorating their nurseries and choosing names for the baby because by now they probably know if it is going to be a boy or a girl.

However, for some women the 3rd trimester may be a very delicate period and the doctors may advice bed rest because of their condition. Complications may develop for some women during the 3rd trimester one of the complications is bleeding. There can be other complications associated with the placenta as well. In this trimester, any interference with the fetal growth that is noticed is discovered and also if the fetus is abnormal, it usually shows up in the 3rd trimester.

Some of the other complications are preterm labor and premature birth of the child. Sometimes, the birth process gets triggered in the seventh month itself resulting in premature babies. When a baby is born in the fifth to seventh month of gestation, they are called preterm babies. Some other physiological conditions that can develop during the 3rd trimester are hypertension, gestational diabetes, anemia and even cardiac problems or kidney related problems. Some women also develop fungal infections and other urinary tract infections. This can complicate matters because then a normal delivery of a baby becomes difficult if you have a fungal infection in the genital area.
