Unpaid Alabama Speeding Tickets

As per available traffic estimates, around 115,000 speeding tickets are issued every day in the United States. Speeding tickets are issued by traffic police personnel when the driver is found speeding away in his vehicle at a speed more than the prescribed limit. What happens if there are unpaid Alabama speeding tickets?

All the issues related to speeding tickets including imposing fine and other lawsuits are dealt by the local courts of law. If the driver pleads guilty, he has to pay fine. If the driver does not plead guilty of the offence, he can file a lawsuit defending his stand. However, if fine is imposed, it is mandatory for the driver to pay the fine within a stipulated period.

One could have his license suspended if he doesn’t pay the penalty for a speeding ticket. Details of motorists within a particular state are compiled as an online database. As per a common understanding, this database is shared between states that are under an interstate agreement. Vehicle registration could be withheld in one state even if the crime has been committed in another state. Other consequences of unpaid speeding tickets include late fees penalty, vehicle seizure, negative points on driving records resulting in increased insurance rates, and even in imprisonment.

According to the Alabama State Traffic laws, new driver license cannot be issued to a person with an unpaid speeding ticket if the offense has been committed in any of the states included in the interstate agreement called Nonresident violator compact. Traffic violation tickets get reflected in all the member states under this agreement including Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming.
