Low self-esteem and depression are the results of verbal or emotional abuse. It isolates the affected person from others. Emotional abuse includes situations where one is isolated from all their supportive people, where one is asked to move to an isolated place in a bid to close contact with all relatives etc. There may also be a situation where a partner may not agree to listen to another person’s points of views. He may also have the final say and he may not be open to criticism. This is just another form of emotional abuse.

If there has been an instance where one has stopped all the hobbies or social or work activities on the insistence of one’s partner, then it is time to understand that one is being subjected to emotional abuse.
