Acupuncture And Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is one of the most common diseases spread by ticks in the United States. Every year more than sixteen thousand cases of Lyme disease are reported.

The disease is mainly spread by the ticks living on deer in America and it was first identified in a place called Old Lyme in Connecticut.

Deer are found in plenty in various parts of the United States and after several researches; it has been proved that Lyme disease is caused only when the deer tick attaches to your skin for more than 36 hours. Not all the ticks found on the deer can cause the disease; however, if they are carrying the bacteria responsible for Lyme disease only then can they transmit the disease to humans.

Lyme disease starts with a rash, which then spreads all over the body. Typical symptom of Lyme disease is the rash along with fever and body aches.

Acupuncture has been known to relieve the symptoms of Lyme disease and the body aches caused by it in patients. To cure the disease, people still have to take the conventional medicines. However, body aches and other symptoms like stiff neck can be alleviated with the help of acupuncture.

Acupuncture is popular for relieving symptoms like pain in the body, fatigue and joint pains. Any disease that has these symptoms can be relieved through acupuncture including Lyme disease. However, since the disease is a bacterial infection, it is recommended that you consult a doctor immediately so that a course of antibiotics can be prescribed.
