Stretch marks are common to appear on the breasts, stomach, hips, knees and buttocks. Although they are mostly found in women who undergo pregnancy, it can also affect men and teenagers across any gender.
Although there are no ways to completely remove the scars, it is possible to make their appearance less significant. Here are some good ways:
- Exfoliation – Exfoliation is effective in treating stretch marks and the results vary based on the location it affects. It is a process in which the dead layers of skin are removed to reveal the fresh and soft skin, which makes the stretch marks look less prominent. Oatmeal and Baking soda can be used to make preparations at home or one can even go in for the exfoliation products readily available in the market. But, it is vital to apply plenty of moisturizer to let the skin be hydrated after having exfoliation.
- Creams and lotions – They can help in treating stretch marks by improving the skin texture thus, making it less prominent on skin. There are products available especially and only for the scars that have been newly formed. Thus, using those products cannot be of much help to the stretch marks that are quite old.
- Laser removal – If stretch marks are severe and bad, laser treatments can be very helpful. Although it is slightly on the high end as far as cost is concerned, the pain you experience through laser treatment can be just mild or moderate. Though they cannot repair the damaged fibers of the skin, they can improvise on the appearance of the scars to a great extent.
- Cosmetic surgery – It removes the damaged fibers in the skin and by doing so it pulls together the skin tightly. It helps in getting rid of stretch marks to a great extent.
