Something To Take Internally For Genital Warts

Something To Take Internally For Genital Warts      Preventing the occurrence of genital warts or an HPV infection is important in order to provide a healthy life, primarily to individuals who are sexually active.

One important method of preventing a HPV infection is Gardasil, which is a USFDA approved recombinant vaccine against certain dangerous subtypes of HPV. This vaccine is manufactured by Merck.

According to WHO reports, there are 100 different strains of human papilloma virus that have been identified till date. Among these, a group of 30-40 strains are capable of getting transmitted through sexual contact and cause infection in and around the genital region. HPV types 6 and 11 have been found to be the major causative factor in about 90 percent of cases involving genital warts. HPV types 16 and 18 cause about 70 percent of HPV-related cervical cancers. HPV type 16 has been found to be associated with another peculiar form of throat cancer known as oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

Gardasil is a quadrivalent vaccine that has been designed to prevent infection against HPV types, 16, 18, 6 and 11. As per the recommendations made by the National Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), it is important for girls and women between the age of 11 and 26 to receive this vaccine. However, Gardasil is most effective in girls or women who are not sexually active or those who have not been infected with any of the four types of HPV.  Gardasil is given as three injections over six months. After immunization, individuals tend to suffer with symptoms that include pain, swelling, itching and redness at the site of injection, fever, nausea and dizziness.
