The disease itself is a complicated one, and it is strongly advised that those who suffer from it must follow food habits in strict consultation with a doctor, so as to avoid serious complications like severe malnutrition.

Another common problem that people suffering from celiac disease have to face is a serious deficiency in digestive enzymes, meaning that the intestines in a celiac patient’s body are often unable to produce the required amount of digestive secretion. Unfortunately there is no concrete evidence that has been presented as to enzyme supplementation of some kind is the right way to fight this disorder.

The bottom line here is that in spite of all the supplements in the world, a celiac patient must cut out gluten from his diet completely, or the supplements will not be able to make any difference to his condition. Many experts recommend that supplements should only be induced once the patient has been on a gluten free diet for at least 2 to 3 weeks.
