What we commonly refer to as loose motions, diarrhea can hit people of all age groups, from newborn babies to the elderly, and can be mild, acute or chronic. Some of the main causes of diarrhea are eating too much, food allergy of some kind, improper digestion, bacterial infection or bowel disorder.
Acute dehydration, nausea, constant thirst, fever, stomach pain, loose stools and vomiting are some of the foremost symptoms of diarrhea. If the condition persists for a long time, the body tends to become too weak with all the loss of vitamins and fluids.
Even though there are a number of effective prescription drugs available that can cure diarrhea at all stages, most people prefer to go with home remedies, which are equally effective, simple and can lead to no side effects. For instance, eating a banana with natural yoghurt is a good cure for diarrhea, and so is a glass of hot chocolate added to milk that has been boiled for about 120 minutes and the top layer has been taken off.
There are a number of different combinations of fluids that you can prepare at home in a jiffy and get that diarrhea out of the way. About half teaspoon each of lemon juice, pepper powder and ginger juice mixed together and taken twice daily, warm ginger tea or ale, carrot juice, 3 tablespoons of black pepper and one and a half tablespoons of kelp added to two cups of boiled water -- all proven home remedies that cure diarrhea effectively.
