Symptoms Of Severe Liver Disease

There are many types of liver disease like jaundice, cirrhosis, hepatitis A, B, and C, and liver cancer. Any of these diseases can manifest themselves into a severe form.

For example, some simple diseases like jaundice and fatty liver disease can become more chronic and complicated if neglected for some time. The symptoms of liver disease are often silent, and they show up only when the disease becomes severe. Any type of liver disease will cause a yellowish tinge in the skin and lead to jaundice. Jaundice in adults is a difficult condition to treat as it is often associated with several other complications, and mostly related to the liver. Jaundice itself occurs as a symptom of liver cancer, severe cirrhosis and other liver malfunctions. This usually means the liver is failing and is close to a break down. If the liver fails within a few hours, the patient may die with loss of blood supply.

Some extreme symptoms of liver disease are severe abdominal cramping and pain. This type of pain may start from the back and come to the abdomen in the front. They may somewhat seem like spasms, and each time they come with more force. This could sometimes be fatal for a person if not hospitalized immediately. A progressed liver disease may also cause edema which is swelling of the legs. Also, if the doctors take a scan of the liver, they will observe that the liver has enlarged in size. If the person has an advanced form of cancer, then they may start vomiting blood.
