Most people think that getting cancer means they have to die. First of all, one has to understand what exactly cancer is.
Cancer is a disease that is caused due to the multiplication of dead cells in the body. Cancer can occur in any part of the body and when the body fails to recognize dead cells and eject them out of the system, they start forming tumors within the body. They take over the functioning of the body, and this eventually leads to death. However, the whole cycle takes a lot of time and tumors do not occur overnight in a person. The diagnosis of cancer is divided into four stages which apply to all types of cancer.
The first stage is the easiest to cure because the tumor typically occurs only in one place of the body. At this stage the disease can be brought under control directly by surgery. The diseased tumor is removed from the body, and the chances are the tumor may never occur again by maintaining the right lifestyle.
The second stage is also considered curable by doctors. It is the advanced third and fourth stages which are more difficult to cure because the cancer would have spread to other parts of the body also. At these stages, the doctors give patients a maximum of three to five years of life expectancy. It is unfortunate, but several patients are given the approximate life expectancy. People who have a positive outlook and maintain a positive lifestyle live beyond the life expectancy in spite of having cancer.
