For those of you who do not know what are anaerobic exercises, here is a simple explanation. Anaerobic exercises are exercises that are strenuous in nature but performed for a very short duration.
The length of performance time could be around a minute or so. Basically anaerobic exercises are those exercises that do not need oxygen.
With all the benefits being touted around, many people forget the flaws of anaerobic exercises. Anaerobic exercises are extremely strenuous and rigorous and you need to be in very good shape physically to excel in them. That is why not all people can do anaerobic exercises because their muscle condition is not at optimum level to take on the stress of these exercises. And, if they do anaerobic exercises without having the muscle condition, they risk muscular and joint injury.
As anaerobic exercises do not use oxygen, your body has to rely on another source for the energy during the exercise routine. Creatine phosphate and glycogen present in the body help to provide that energy through a chemical process. However, this process has a by-product and this is lactic acid. One of the other flaws of aerobic exercises is build up of lactic acid in the muscles. While lactic acid is not dangerous to the body other than causing cramps but it can be harmful. That is why it is recommended that anaerobic exercises are done in short spurts followed by periods of rests so that lactic acid can be dispersed from the body and your muscles have sufficient time to recover.
The other flaws of anaerobic exercises are that they do not facilitate the burning of fat or help condition the cardiovascular system. Therefore, if you are looking for these benefits with anaerobic exercise, your choice of exercise is wrong.
