Mesothelium is the protective tissue that is present as a lining on the outer surface of vital internal organs of the body including lungs, heart and abdomen. There are three major types of Mesothelioma in human body that include epithelioid type, sarcomatoid type and mixed or biphasic type. Mesotheliomas are also classified based on the tissue or location. Pleural Mesothelioma is the mesothelioma occuring in the pleural tissue of lung, while the one occurring in the abdominal peritoneum is called peritoneal Mesothelioma. Pericardial Mesothelioma occurs in the cavity around the heart and testicular Mesothelioma occurs in the testicular peritoneum.
The most predominant cause of Mesothelioma is getting exposed to asbestos. According to research, people who are employed as factory workers, miners, insulation manufacturers, railroad workers, ship builders, gas mask manufacturers and construction workers have the highest incidence of Mesothelioma. These employees can file a lawsuit against the company if the company values its profits more than human lives. Usually, companies do not implement essential preventive technologies and tend to ignore the ill-effects of hazardous chemicals on employees. In these situations, the only means to obtain justice if diagnosed with Mesothelioma is to file a lawsuit. A successful lawsuit could provide means of financial security for the family and also pay the expenses incurred on medical treatment.
Diagnosis of Mesothelioma is difficult because most of its symptoms are similar with various other diseases. Pleural Mesothelioma have symptoms found during respiratory diseases including chest and back pain, difficulty in swallowing, impaired breathing, persistent cough, fever, nausea and weight loss. Peritoneal Mesothelioma symptoms include swelling of the abdomen, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, swollen feet, irregular bowels and vomiting.
