Foods That Cause High Cholesterol

Cholesterol is vital for our body and gives stability and strength to the cells. It also enhances the vitamin D content, helps in the functioning of serotonin receptors in addition to acting as a transport for vitamins like A and E which are antioxidants.

However, too much of cholesterol can lead to cardiovascular and atherosclerosis diseases and it leads to formation of fat deposits especially in the internal organs.

Once people get older, doctors advice their patients to reduce the blood cholesterol levels as the metabolism capacity of the body reduces and results in extra cholesterol deposits leading to serious health complications.

While considering lowering the cholesterol levels, there are two broad categories of food to be taken into account. Dairy products, meat and eggs have cholesterol produced by animals. Processed foods that are especially fried in oil contain trans-fats that enhance flavor and also act as preservative. Some of the food items like a meat pie that is pre-cooked fall into both types of categories.

In order to enjoy consuming these delicacies without serious health disorders in the long run, it is necessary to eat these food items in moderate amounts and also follow a healthy and regular exercise regimen.

You can still enjoy these food products by making slight changes to your eating habits. You can reduce the amount of fat milk you drink in a day. Try grilling meat rather than frying in order to reduce trans-fat content due to oil. Avoid eating the yolk and consume egg white which is very healthy. Processed delicacies like potato chips, French fries, biscuits and cakes should not be consumed regularly.
