Different minerals and vitamins are very important for the body health. So there must be a constant supply of these nutrients to the body is essential. If there is less supply of these nutrients, then it would lead to many health complication and ailments. Magnesium is the mineral, most of which is present in the bones and some in the muscles, organs, body tissue. It is also present in the blood stream.

The important function of this magnesium is to strengthen the bones and relax the muscles. It also helps in the proper functioning of the nerves and modulates the blood glucose level.

If magnesium is not supplied to the body in proper amounts then the body cannot function efficiently and would result in many other major health hazards. Some of the common signs that occur as a result of low levels of magnesium are weakness in muscles, rapid heart rate, weak or soft bones, defects in blood sugar metabolism, high blood pressure, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, depression, allergies, weight loss or weight gain, seizures, mood swings, asthma, loss of hearing, osteoporosis, joint pain, sleeplessness, etc.

Low level of magnesium can also lead to constipation, difficulty in swallowing, menstrual cramps, photophobia, breast tenderness, restlessness, panic attack and hyperactivity. Low magnesium levels can cause nervous related problems like numbness, tingling, etc. It also cause adverse effect on heart that include mitral valve prolapsed, palpitation, etc. It is advised to take sufficient amount of magnesium in food to avoid major health complication.
