The first trimester for every pregnant woman is a tentative time as the fetus is new and the baby and the mother are very delicate at this point of time. The woman has to take good care of herself, eat well and get sufficient sleep. During the first trimester the baby is growing very rapidly and is developing all the body parts at a fast pace.
The first doctor's visit would involve the initial screening where the woman is checked for pregnancy confirmation, blood test is taken and also all complications are ruled out during these screening tests.
However, in some women even though most of the complications are ruled out in the screening test itself, the women may develop other symptoms of complications in due course.
Some women complain of abdominal cramps or blood spotting and some may experience frequent vaginal discharge. Vaginal discharge during pregnancy is normal and if it does not accompany any cramps or spotting, then it should be normal in most cases. However, a woman should be able to tell the difference when it is serious and when she needs medical attention and when it is normal. If a pregnant woman notices a sudden gush of clear fluid in first trimester, then she should seek the attention of a doctor immediately because it could be a possible rupturing of the membrane. Premature rupture of membranes happens in some women due to several reasons. It could be an underlying problem that has caused the rupture but it is always best to go to the hospital immediately when this happens.
