To view the world optimistically is positive Living. When you are proactive, have your own principles and are self guided, then we call it positive living. People living such a life enjoy each and every moment of their lives.
They respect other people and motivate others to achieve the best in life. They are self guided and are responsible for their own actions. They, in short, are optimists and are successful in life. They face any problems with courage and inspire others.
Chronic illnesses are those that last a long time, may be continuous or may appear intermittently. It limits what a person can do and never goes away. There are hundreds of chronic illnesses from diabetes and asthma to heart attacks and lung disease. Such diseases may not be contagious but are generally inherited. Yet, a person who is chronically ill does not necessarily have to give up on life. Such a person needs to take care of himself and sometimes has to do certain things which would be superfluous in other normal people. They will have to devise ways and means to keep healthy. Hence, they will manage their illness and go about it with an optimistic outlook. This is what is meant by positive living with chronic illness.
A chronically ill patient knows that he is different from others. It is for others to discourage him from wallowing in self-pity. Do not focus on him as a person with a health problem. Treat him as no different to any of us but with a health problem. See how best you can help him. The chronic illness may remain. Make sure that your love and kindness to the person remains unflagging and he knows it.
