A person who is on a calorie restriction diet can actually eat anything that does not go beyond the standard calorie value for the diet. There are hundreds of types of food that are low on calories but high on nutritional value.
A person on a low calorie diet should plan to eat three or five small meals in one day. He or she should divide the meals in such a way so that the total calorie value of the day does not exceed 1500 calories.
However, they cannot have thousand calories for lunch and 500 calories for dinner. Calorie restriction diet does not work that way. The meals should be equally divided in calorie values and they should be planned meals. Most people will have to clearly cut down the carbohydrates like rice and starchy foods and replace them with complex carbohydrates and protein like wheat and soy.
A person can have chicken, lean meat, fish, eggs, milk, fruits, and portions of vegetables in their diet. If they are having chicken, then they should eat the leanest part and also go for baked or roasted chicken in which the calorie count is low. For example, one portion of roasted chicken will contain 330 calories whereas one portion of fried chicken can contain up to 680 calories. That is the difference and that is why eating planned food in low calorie diets is very important. When the body gets the right kind of food and in moderate levels it tends to use it all up and also does not store it as fat.
