Ethical Concerns Of Cryonics

Cryonics means a method of preserving the body so that the person can possibly be resuscitated in a point of time somewhere in the future. What is the use of it one may ask? If a person has died due to a certain disease for which there is no cure yet, he or she can preserve themselves using cryonics until such time that a cure is available for the disease. This is just one example of why it can be used.

There have been several concerns by religious and spiritual leaders over the process of cryonics. Also, the government is skeptical about drawing huge funds for research in these criteria. Cryonics is one of the most desperate attempts to save a persons life. Several people like famous celebrities have expressed their interests in these subjects. If given a chance, everyone wants to live forever and knowing that cryonics can make it possible is definitely a bonus for such people.

However, there is no proof until now if cryonics actually works. Also, it is set to work at a future point of time so no one can guarantee life at a future point of time. In addition, there is no guarantee that a cure for certain disease will be ever found.

Cryonics is not cheap and it can cost thousands of dollars. The ethical concerns are about the preservation of the body over something that we are not even sure about. From a religious point of view all souls have to be liberated by burying or burning. Cryonics redefines the process of death and no one knows what the repercussions could be.
