Life extension means cryonics and it is a process through which a person can freeze themselves to come back alive at a future point of time. The field of cryonics in science has been much argued about it. While some people understand that there are benefits to life extension, others think that it is not morally and ethically correct to go against the laws of nature.
Human beings are involved in a complex process of life where religion, ethics, morals, values and cultural practices play a major role in their lives. Life and death are viewed from all these angles and not only from the medical point of view. For a doctor, who practices cryonics death, it may just be a physiological condition where a person stops breathing. However, in the society death has a different meaning and value.
Federal government has been unable to decide whether such a technology should be funded or not. They face several arguments from influential people that if a person can extend his chance of living by resuscitation at a future point of time why not try to do it immediately and why save the process for the future. How can a person be suspended between life and death for an uncertain period of time? Also, several other concepts like soul and religion come in the play and several arguments are put forth.Forever people have been intrigued about life after death concept and the elixir of life and youth has been much sought after and talked about. However, these concepts sound better on paper and as myths for most people. When the concepts turn into reality, most people cannot come into terms with them. And therefore, the general opinion is that research into life extension should not receive federal funding.
