Longevity is influenced by several factors and no one knows the exact causes until today. People are putting a lot of effort in understanding the aging process and why certain people age more than the others. Several studies were performed using people who have lived beyond 95 but most of the research has been inconclusive and no exact results came out of these researches.
If some of the questions related to aging are answered, then doctors can come up with some biomarkers like when aging can happen and how soon a person will grow old. Some of the factors that cause aging and influence the longevity in a person are genes, personal habits, diseases, conditions, lifestyle, diet, and nutrition. The main factor of them all has been nutrition.
If a person eats the correct food their entire life, then the cells in their body will never age and they will never die. However, determining the exact nutrition is almost next to impossible. A human body needs several things on a day to day basis to function and when it does not get some of the nutrients, some parts of the cells get damaged. This is a broad picture of how aging starts in a person. The body ends up constantly using its own resources and that is why it is wears out. Wearing out is nothing but aging. Think of it as a machine and all machines come to a stop eventually. There are some clinical tools available today to roughly predict the aging process and possible longevity in a person.
