Is Omega 3 a mood stabilizer in the body? It can be possible because Omega 3 or fish oil, which is rich in Omega 3, has a lot of properties that are good for the nervous system and the brain. Omega 3 helps to prevent mood swings, anxiety, mood-related disorders, bipolar disorders and even diseases like Alzheimer’s.
In a research that was conducted in India about a certain sect of the community that lived in Calcutta and consumed fish everyday and believed it was vegetarian food, it was found that the people of this sect had an amazing power of memory, and were quick in their thinking and thought process. Their diet mainly consisted of fish. The research was further conducted to observe the qualities found in fish and it was found that even the fish had good memory. Therefore, it was concluded that Omega 3 fatty acid must be the common denominating factor. The researchers put two and two together and concluded Omega 3 that is found in fish is helpful for humans too.
On the other hand, low levels of Omega 3 in the body have been associated with mood swings, depressive disorders, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. People who suffered from substance abuse were also found to have low levels of Omega 3 fatty acids.
When all the available information on Omega 3 is correlated, one can easily infer that Omega 3 from fish oil is, in fact, good for people with mood disorders and also for normal people who are suffering from stress, anxiety and depression. Every one can take fish oil as it has many benefits and no side effects.
