Many people are wondering why there is a sudden increase in the baby boomer population. The main reason is that the baby boomer population has increased because there was a rise in population tremendously between 1947 and 1964 and now the whole lot of people belonging to this generation is aging.
However, within every crisis lies an opportunity also and in future there will be a sudden rise in the need of geriatricians and also at the same time a dearth of qualified work force will be experienced. In the coming decades, there would be as severe shortage of health care professionals. So long these baby boomers have served in various categories and also were major contributors to the economy. However, as these people retire the shortage will become even more evident.
The growth of baby boomer population may also bring in other instabilities for themselves like increase in inflation and also differences in the standard of living. Right now the situation is decrease in opportunities and increase in qualified work force. However, the same situation is very much likely to be reversed in the coming decades. The reason is even though the population is likely to go up among the overall population the maximum number of people would be the baby boomer population who have crossed their retirement age. This could cause some serious gaps between retirees and newer work force. The gap is severe with young professionals choosing more diversified careers and not everyone is choosing health care fields as a choice.
