When it comes to working people most of them are baby boomers and people who are stuck in between generation X and the baby boomer stage, the next generation. There is a lot of diversity in the generations and yet people are able to work together however not without its disadvantages.
If you think about it, it is all a big mess. The top management positions are all taken by baby boomers mostly because of the tremendous knowledge and experience that they carry. Diversity in generation gap brings in a lot of advantages at the same time too.
Some of the advantages that are brought in diverse generation gaps are that people understand various levels of thinking and also learn the work culture at different levels. This helps people to be more open minded and also learn more skills from each other. Same generation can bring in redundancy and it always true that diversity is what creates innovation and advancement. Even though today the population is more diverse, the problem is that one set of population dominates everyone else and that is the baby boomer population. Once these people move towards retirement, there will be serious issues and gaps that cannot be bridged. The diversity in generation gaps will also be eventually leveled out.
The disadvantages of the generation gap are that the newer generations tend to work at a faster pace and they are also more creative. They think out of the box whereas the older generation tends to depend on the time tested theories. This could cause some major differences in the work pace of the various generations.
