Embalming A Human Body

Embalming is a process that is performed on the dead in order to preserve their body from decaying. If a body has been embalmed properly then it can be preserved for several hundreds of years.

For embalming, several herbs and oils are used. Natural chemicals are prepared for the process of embalming. One of the earliest civilizations to have followed embalming is the Egyptians. They used to use a complicated process which lasted several days for embalming. However, the modern embalming procedure is done with the use of machines and complicated equipment. Also, these days it is required that a professional do the embalming and he or she should have the expertise for it.

The embalming process also involves removal of certain fluids from the body and handling all the parts of the body of the dead with care and respect. The body is washed thoroughly before the embalming process and also muscles are relaxed and also they make the body tension free. The bones and a few other parts of the body are filled with chemicals so that they are kept in tact and preserved that way.

Embalming is mostly done in the funeral homes where the body is prepared and placed inside the coffin. An embalmed body can stay inside the coffin without decaying for several hundreds of years. Most of the embalmers use the embalming machine which makes it very easy for them. They do have to slit certain openings in the body and the embalmer later closes the slits.
