War veterans are people who have contributed a lot to the nation and the people. Obviously they deserve benefits and comforts in life for the sacrifices they have made for the country. Can the same be extended to their family including grandchildren is a debatable question.
There are scholarships available for children of war veterans and in today’s world most of them would have already availed it. However, does the same benefit extend to grandchildren is some people who have fought in different wars often wonder.
America fought several battles like Korean War, Vietnam War, World Wars, Independence War and the Civil War. Different wars have different set of benefits based on the circumstances that plagued the country during that particular war.
However, in today’s world, war is not as bad as it used to be and people do not get severely affected by it. Definitely there are some awards and grants for grandchildren of war veterans but they have to earn it. If the grandchild of a war veteran is doing very well in a certain area of studies, he or she might hold a chance of winning a grant from the Veterans of War Society. The American government has very few reservations regarding this and it did give benefits to children but not grandchildren. The equation is fairly simple. When the war veterans where actually fighting the war, the children and the immediate family would have been affected but not the grandchildren. Therefore, the government per se has not constituted any educational benefits for grandchildren of war veterans. However, one should always check the Children of War Veterans Plan before reaching any conclusions.
