Funeral Poems To Read For Grandmothers

It is very difficult for grandchildren to learn that their grandmother has passed away. For many of them, a grandmother means as much as their own mother and they love them very much. And, it is difficult for the children to imagine that one person who was always there is no more.

However, death is something that has to come one day or the other and children will have to learn to come to terms with it. It would be nice if a grandchild can read something on their grandmother’s memorial service and say a few lines about her in their own words. It also provides an opportunity for the child to overcome his or her grief. Also, a grandchild feels proud that he or she has let the world know how much their grandmother meant to them and what a special person she was. It is truly a nice thing to do to write a poem in your own words for the funeral.

Here is a sample funeral poem to read for your grandmother's funeral or memorial service:

Thank you for the gift of love,
now you're sharing it up above.
You had many things to say.
All in a caring way.
You always saw good in everyone,
No matter what they've done.
You were always the one we could all lean on.
Even though it must have felt like a ton.
You were always the strength of the family.
Now we must let you rest calmly.
As we say goodbye,
as tears roll down our eyes.
I know your place in heaven has a good view.
Because you're telling God,
I need to keep an eye on a few.
I know you will always be in our hearts and mind.
So Grandma,
I must go, but I'll never forget you're one of a kind.
