When the pressure of blood increases in any pulmonary blood vessel, it is known as pulmonary hypertension. Some of the symptoms of pulmonary hypertension include dizziness, shortness of breath, tiredness, cough, fainting, swelling of the feet and ankles and pain in the chest. However, if the person does moderate exercises, it will increase the intake of oxygen and put less strain on the heart. According to research, if people suffering from hypertension do moderate exercise along with training on how to breathe properly, it helps to increase the lung capacity for oxygen and helps them both physically as well as psychologically.
Unfortunately, there is no specific exercise for people suffering from pulmonary hypertension. However, doing moderate exercise that helps to maintain the tone of muscles and enhances physical as well as mental well being is what the patients should be looking at. This will end up improving long term survival rate too amongst people suffering from pulmonary hypertension, provided it is done regularly.
It is imperative that a person suffering from pulmonary hypertension should never over exercise. They should not experience pain in the chest, suffer from light headedness or develop shortness of breath while exercising. Therefore, it is essential that the person first consult the doctor to find out how much exercise he/she should be doing and the kind of exercise they should be doing.
