The royal Bengal tiger is one of the most beautiful animals and is easily recognizable for its color and the black vertical stripes. Tigers are solitary animals so they like to live alone most of the time. They hunt prey by camouflaging themselves in the grasslands and bamboo thickets. They make short and swift leaps so that they can catch their prey.
There are six species of tigers like the Siberian, Bengal, and Malayan, Sumatran, indo china and south china. All the species of tiger are endangered, and they are close to extinction. All the tigers in the world now live in reserves presently.
Some of the tiger species are extinct, and they are Bali, Caspian, and Javan tigers. Every tiger has a unique stripe pattern on its body. A tiger is a huge animal and can grow up to ten feet tall. It weighs nearly 400 pounds or more. A tiger can eat up to 80 pounds of meat at one go.
Despite of its huge size, the tiger can run pretty fast. It takes long sweeps and that is how it gains speed. The tigers mainly hunt during the night. The tigers do not chase their preys. Instead they stalk them. They follow them closely and stealthily, and suddenly leap on them to make the kill. Most of the times, the prey does not even realize that there is a tiger close by. The tiger lives for an average of 15 to 20 years. In captivity, a tiger lives a bit longer.
