Thomas Jeffrey "Tom" Hanks is a well known American actor who has won Oscar awards back-to-back for his phenomenal performances during the years 1993 and 1994. His box-office collections are worth about 3.3 billion US dollars only in the domestic market.

1956 - Tom Hanks was born in California
1965 - His parents were divorced when he was just 9 years old
1966 - Attended high school where he developed his early interests in baseball and space
1974 - He was chosen as the Best Actor at Skyline High School where he developed interest in acting. He joined the Thespian club and performed a couple of award winning performances
1976 - He met Susan Dillingham, his first wife
1978 - Cleveland Critics Circle chose to him as the Best Actor
1985- Took break from acting. Had a troublesome personal life with his wife Samantha. They tried to work out their marital life but finally ended up getting separated.
1988 - Became a successful actor with a couple of awards in his kitty at the young age of 22. Decided to shift to New York City. Was nominated for the Oscars for the first time
1990 - married Rita Wilson and then became a father of 2 sons in the course of next 2 years
1993 - Fought against AIDS and won an Oscar award
1994 - Won his next Oscar for his performance in Forest Gump
1995 - Worked with Ron Howard in the movie titled “Apollo 13” and played the character of Jim Lovell
1998 - Nominated once more for an Oscar for his performance in “You’ve Got Mail” with Meg Ryan
