According to reports, both represented Switzerland at the Sydney Olympics and that is when they met and have been inseparable ever since.Vavrinec had to retire from the pro circuit due to a niggling foot injury. She retired in 2002. However, she took on a different role then. She took to handling the PR for Federer.
Roger and Mirka tied the nuptial knot on April 11, 2009 in Basel. The wedding was attended just by some close friends and family. And a couple of months later, Mirka and Roger announced the birth of their twin girls, Myla Rose and Charlene Riva. The girls were born on July 23, 2009.
Federer's himself comes from a mixed heritage with his father being Swiss and mother being from South Africa. As a result, Federer holds dual citizenship. Federer is proficient in Swiss German, English, German and French.
In Switzerland, conscription is present. Therefore, just like every man in the country, Roger also joined the armed forces to serve his mandatory time. However, he was released on health ground in 2003. This is when he started actively taking part in ATP matches. However, Federer had started playing tennis when he was just six years old. He played football too as a kid, and at the age of 12, he took the decision to focus only on tennis.
