This tremendous player has been dominating the tennis world in both singles and women's doubles at important events such as the Australian Open, Wimbledon and in doubles at the US Open. Owing to a knee injury in the year 2003, Serena’s career suffered an extreme set back for a few years with her ranking deteriorating to number 140. However, the superstar fought back and regained the Number 1 slot in September 2008 once again.
Since 2008, there have been rumors of the sports celebrity dating a rapper named Common. The same year, the People Magazine confirmed reports of the two dating. Common is a well known rapper. Although his original name is Lonnie Rashied Lynn, he is better known as Common Sense in the world of hip hop music. He came into limelight after winning a contest held by a magazine.
In 1992, Common made a debut with "Take It EZ" and thereafter gained immense fame in the decade of the 1990s. Although his style in music was quite different from the kind in vogue, yet Common managed to draw the attention of many fans.
There was a legal pursuit against the rapper by a band with the same name. As a result, ‘Common Sense’ became only ‘Common’ and commenced launching his albums under his new name from 1997 onwards. Towards the latter part of the 1990s, he earned repute even amongst critics. His albums were appreciated and he gained wide recognition. The rapper was previously involved with singer Erykah Badu.
All through 2008 and 2009, the couple has been seen together at various clubs in Los Angeles and Miami, and has also been spotted partying with common friends. However, the couple chose not to publicize their relationship. It was finally on August 28, 2009 at the Official USTA Player Party sponsored by Heineken that Serena broke her silence about her relationship with Common. She accepted that the two loved to spent time with each other, shopping and dining at restaurants. She further announced that his presence during the game offered her immense support.
