Larry Page And Artificial Intelligence
What is Artificial intelligence (AI)? It is the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs. It is related to the similar task of using computers to understand human intelligence, but AI does not have to restrict itself to methods that are biologically observable. |
Intelligence is the computational part of the ability to achieve goals in the world. Varying kinds and degrees of intelligence occur in people, many animals and some machines. AI is the ability to build machines that solve problems by observing people or just by observing the methods people employ.
In 2006, Larry Page projected a search engine that would anticipate exactly what the user was looking for, understand the question and find the right answer instantly. That was Page’s insight to his European partners into the most ambitious project being undertaken by his company Google into artificial intelligence. Page observed that at the rapid rate of technology change, artificial intelligence could become a reality in a few years. Page believed that the brain's algorithms were not all that complicated and could be approximated, eventually, with a lot of computational power. He went on to estimate human DNA to about 600 megabytes compressed, making it smaller than any modern operating system like Linux or Windows.
Larry Page and Sergey Brin are the co-founders of Google which created a search engine that is the most popular in the world today. The company is committed to a large financial outlay on research in artificial intelligence. Larry Page is currently one of the world’s richest men.
