History Of Charlie Chaplin  

Charlie Chaplin a British born actor, director, composer, and producer who is known to the whole world for his silent movies. Charlie Chaplin was born in London to Chaplin Sr and Hannah who were singers at the London Music Hall.

Chaplin made his first appearance in 1914 along with director of Keystone Film Company of America, Mack Sennet. His character as a tramp started with his appearance in the kid auto races at Venice in 1914.

He acted in seventy films as a tramp. He was in association with Mutual Film Company, Essanay Film Company and the First National Film Company. His studio was completed in the year 1918 in Hollywood, California. Chaplin had acted, directed and produced movies which include The Kid, The Pilgrim, The Gold Rush, The Limelight, The Circus, City Lights, Modern Times, The Great Dictator, Monsieur Verdoux, and A King in New York. He was also a composer of background music for his films. 

In the 1940s and 1950s, Chaplin faced criticism for his leftist views on politics, because of which he moved from the US to Switzerland in 1952. In 1972, he went to the US to receive an honorary Oscar Award.

In the 1960s, Charlie Chaplin's health started failing. He was bound to a wheelchair and finally in 1977, he passed away in his sleep in Switzerland.

Chaplin was known for his role as the tramp which was very popular with the public. He had made several silent films. Although it has been years that he died, even today people remember the little tramp, who faced difficulties and maltreatment, but still made people laugh.
