Kofi A. Annan, who is the 7th Secretary General of the UN, was considered as the first person to be elected for a position at the UN. He began his term from 1st January in the year 1997. Due to his great contributions he was again elected for the same position on January 1, 2002. He was born on April 8, 1938 in Kumasi, Ghana. He completed his education from the University of Science and Technology located at his birth place itself. He then graduated from the Macalester College of the United States in the year 1961.
