He was born in Gary in Indiana on August 29 of 1958 in an African American family. His mother, Katherine Jackson, was a firm believer in Jehovah’s Witness and was very religious. His father, Joseph Jackson, was a guitarist by profession, but became a crane operator because he had to look after his family. However, he recognized that all his sons had great musical talent. He molded them to form a musical group right from childhood.
In the 1960s, the Jackson family started performing. They formed the Jackson Five which included, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, Jackie and Michael. Among all of them, Michael was the most famous. He also had two more sisters.
The Jackson Five were very successful and by the time Michael had turned seven, the band was already too successful. They were playing in various concerts. Michael was very popular by the time he was seven years old. However, he was always a shy and introvert child since childhood. He found it very difficult to deal with the fame. Their father was very strict and also was physically abusive. However, Michael was very attached to his mother.
After years of working with Jackson Five and Motown, Michael broke off on his own to pursue his own single career. Michael's solo career is the most successful in pop history even today.
