Turkey Breast Roasting Times
Roasting a turkey breast takes different times and therefore, you cannot label specific roasting time. Roasting times for turkey breast varies widely based on different conditions and factors like the proportion of the meat, shape and size of the turkey breasts, and the oven temperature. |
But most importantly, the major part of the time factor varies on the condition of the turkey used -- whether it is frozen and then thawed, or fresh turkey breast are used. The difference occurs when the turkey is frozen and then thawed, the roasting time increases fifty percent from what a fresh turkey would take to roast. Thus, roasting frozen turkey breast will take a longer time to cook.
Generally the quantity of turkey breast used also affects the roasting times. 2-3 lbs turkey breast would take 1 1/2 - 2 hours; 4-6 lbs will take 1 1/2-2 1/4 hours; 7-8 lbs will take approximately 2 1/4-3 1/4 hours; 8-12 lbs of unstuffed turkey breast will take 2 3/4-3 hours, while same amount of stuffed turkey will take 3-31/2 hours; and finally 12-14 lbs of unstuffed turkey breast will take 3-3 3/4 hours, and stuffed turkey of same weight will take 3 1/2-4 hours.
Another important factor affecting the roasting time of turkey breast is the temperature. The turkey should be heated at least at 325 F to 350 F. The best way to check the doneness of the turkey breasts is using a meat thermometer. A meat thermometer ensures that you get the right internal temperature, and once the internal temperature reaches 170 degrees F, you know that the turkey breast is done.
