Cafe Latte Ingredients
Café lattes are a combination of milk and coffee. These delicious beverages are extremely easy to prepare. You need not rush to the nearby coffee store to drink these lip smacking beverages. Preparing one at home is a very economical alternative to buying these from stores outside.
You will need the following items:
- Coffee grinder
- Espresso machine (with a stem wand)
- Whole coffee beans (medium or dark roast)
- Stainless steel steam pitcher
Firstly, grind the coffee beans to an extremely fine powder using an espresso machine. Make sure you buy fresh coffee beans for this purpose. You can also buy readymade coffee powder but make sure there is absolutely no coarseness in the mixture.
Next, pour milk into the pitcher half way through. Place a thermometer inside. Do not fill the pitcher to its brim. Milk will boil and overflow. Place the steaming wand inside the pitcher just beneath the milk surface. Do not place it deep down inside. You will not get a frothy layer on top. Steam the milk till it reaches a temperature of 150 degrees Fahrenheit.
Keep a close eye on the temperature to make sure the milk does not parch or over boil. Once you observe foam on top, turn off and separate the foam from the milk surface. Prepare the espresso using an espresso machine. Place the ground powder and pull the shot at one go. Make sure the espresso appears golden (caramel brown) in color. Immediately pour milk on top followed by creamy froth. Serve hot!
