Beginner’s latte: An easy recipe for beginners. You will need:
- Coffee powder: 2 tablespoons
- Milk: ½ cup
- Sugar: 1 teaspoon
- Chocolate/cinnamon or nutmeg in ground form for garnishing
Use an espresso machine to brew coffee. Fill half your cup with brewed coffee. Steam half cup of milk in a microwave. Do not allow the milk to boil. This will give an awfully burnt taste. Add sugar according to your taste preferences. Whip the milk until it thickens. When you notice sufficient froth development on top, add brewed coffee without disturbing the frothy formation. Garnish with chocolate shavings.
An alternative latte:
You will need:
Pour milk into the metal pitcher half way through. Place the steam wand just below the milk surface diagonally. Insert a thermometer and steam milk until it reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the steam wand and allow the milk to heat until it reaches a temperature of 175 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare an espresso with an espresso machine and pour the steamed milk immediately into the espresso. Add the frothy layer on top and serve.
