A fruit is a sweet and a ripened form of the ovaries of a seed bearing plant. This is the definition of the fruit scientifically.
However, when you use this definition to classify many varieties of fruits, it somehow does not fit into the description. There are many fruits that are not ovaries of the plant. Differentiating them or identifying them with a fruit becomes a bit of a challenge.A vegetable is a plant that is cultivated for the edible part of it, and it can be a bulb, root, seeds, or the fruit itself. They are not sweet and have to be cooked in order to be edible most of the time. However, there are several vegetables and fruits that are considered as both fruits and vegetables. Some of them are tomatoes, pumpkin, avocadoes, peapods, green, red and yellow peppers, cucumbers, zucchini and squashes. All of them are both fruits and vegetables, and most of them share similar qualities.
There are not many similarities between a fruit and a vegetable because one can clearly tell a vegetable looking at it. Vegetables are mostly green or brown. Fruits come in many bright colors; like red, pink, brown, and many more. Most vegetables cannot be had raw. However, all fruits can be consumed raw. Fruits are not cooked in most cases. Vegetables have a faster growth cycle, while fruits are slower. For example, an apple tree takes nearly 4 years to start bearing fruits. Vegetable plants grow quickly, and within 3 or 4 weeks you can have the vegetables.
