Spider mites are the common garden insects that are found on the under side of leaves usually. The mites display some spider-like qualities. They spin a silk casing around the leaf they are living on. Then they start boring holes into the leaves and feeding on the tissue. So, the most apparent indication of having an infestation of spider mites is that you will find yellow and brown dots and the presence of silk cocoons on the leaves.
Spider mites can take over your garden very quickly, and you will have to start treating the infestation the moment you notice it in your garden. Pesticides or miticides seem to be the fastest solution to resolve an infestation of spider mites. There are some home remedies also you could use to kill spider mites.
Pesticides or insecticides, if used too often, tend to cause some problems for your garden, and they will also affect plant growth. On the other hand, home made insecticides may not be so problematic.
However, before you start the treatment, the first step you should take is to make sure that you have spider mites in the garden. Look for signs of the insect and confirm it is the same mites we are talking about. Also take white color paper and shake the plant while holding the paper underneath. If there are any spider mites fallen on it, then you can be sure. If there are too many of them, then buy a pesticide and just spray your entire garden. If there are a few, you can try attracting the mites' natural predators like ladybugs.
