What Is Tree Fern ?

Tree ferns are the kind of plants that grow in tropical and sub tropical areas. They are huge fern plants and that is why they are called the tree ferns. They belong to the cyatheales family of plants. There are hundreds of varieties of ferns that have a unique DNA structure.

The ferns also reproduce through a method called alternation of generations. So that is why the DNA structure of the plants can be different many times. The tree fern has beautiful long leaves which are bottle green in color. The leaves come from a thick branch and have thin spiny leaves. Tree ferns are invariably found in hilly regions and they grow in bushy regions. As a plant itself, the tree fern can have a thick wooded trunk. These trees grow well wherever the climate is temperate and that are usually found in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and some parts of India.

Currently the tree fern plants are being used widely by landscape artists to decorate gardens and even city streets. Tree fern can grow well in some parts of the United States and they need very little care once they are fully grown. It is just in the initial days when the plants are small that it needs care and ample attention. However, once the plant reaches a certain stage of its life cycle, it can take care of itself in any kind of weather. There are many varieties of the tree fern itself. However, the most common variety is the one that grows in tropical climates.
